Minutes are posted once approved by the City Council at the next regular meeting. A compilation of presentations shown to the Council is posted the day after the meeting. The searchable recordings are indexed by agenda item number, and they can be shared via email or social media. Closed captions are added to this video approximately one week after the meeting. To help prevent the spread of the COVID-19 virus, all City Councilmembers will be participating in the meeting remotely. Here's what I said at the September 17 unadvertised public meeting about the climate-change-led redesign of East River Park. It was super nerve-wracking and fun and people were great. I was happy I showed up. It's also harrowing to see how fully the city understands we are a coastal city dealing with climate change, and how thoroughly no one believes they can do the right thing. ***... September 17, 2019 Someone in the presentation mentioned Robert Moses as the creator of the FDR. I want to thank the prior speaker who mentioned this, as well as those who addressed the precious lane of traffic we'd have lost under the prior plan. Moses was a racist bully who used unjust means to destroy the lives of primarily communities of color. His work partially curtailed the public culture of the city. Unless you address and change the design and nature of the FDR in your plan you are upholding his legacy no matter how much you may want to claim otherwise. First, simply, following the lead of Borough President Brewer and Council Member Rivera you need to wait for and listen to the Dutch assessment.
